Why Chaos Is Different

• The vessel has been extensively modified beyond its original Grand Banks 54 SX configuration
• The major rebuilds were carried out under the direction of established builders and C. Raymond Hunt Associates
• The resulting package combines a custom-lengthened hull, rebuilt propulsion plant, joystick maneuvering, flybridge and extensive systems upgrades
• The original specification describes Chaos as a long-distance express cruiser with a substantial maintenance and upgrade history

 THE TRANSFORMATION

Chaos has undergone two major phases of customization. The work fundamentally changed the vessel from its original Grand Banks 54 SX configuration into the current custom 57 Flybridge.

2008–2010 | Lyman-Morse Rebuild

• Hull extended by 3 feet and fitted with a custom 5-foot swim platform
• Topsides and bottom faired and repainted
• Engine room completely stripped and rebuilt
• Twin Caterpillar C-18 ACERT electronic diesels installed in 2010, with CE tags and certification
• ZF 500 A gears, Aquadrive CV joints, soft engine mounts and thrust bulkhead installed
• Evolution 3-inch enclosed propeller shafts with shaft angle reduced to 11.5 degrees
• Custom 5-blade propellers with Propspeed
• Soundown mufflers with dry exhaust
• CAT FFD engine displays and ZF Smart Command controls with joystick

The hull and deck were substantially upgraded during the rebuild, including structural lengthening, fairing, barrier coating and a custom Awlgrip finish.
